Mini-Mass Production?
Absolutely!

ABOUT THIS IMAGE: This is a real SMT circuit image of an up and coming project for the Radio Control market.

Due to the small size, we simply did a "step & repeat" of the image to create the "master". It used up a half-sheet of TTS paper but made 10 boards, all on one .032" thick piece of blank single-sided laminate. Now that's the way to "prototype" on a budget!

Here is the total cost to produce these 10 boards:

Copper Laminate
$4.25
1/2 TTS Paper
$.75
6" GreenTRF
$.25
TOTAL COST
$5.25

So now you have a $.52 PCB made in 15 minutes. (Well, ok, we did have to shear the boards with a paper cutter... so add another couple of minutes!)

We call it... "PCB-ON-DEMAND!"

There's no better way to "proof out" your next project and when finished, turn out a dozen or so at a time to meet the public's demand for whatever it is.

Keep in mind that not all circuit design applications have high production requirements. Many unique devices engineers create are very specialized and do not require nor could stand the high cost of commercial board fabrication - especially if you only need a small handful of boards. This technique allows you to fabricate your end product as demand dictates!

Remember the sobering "what if...". What if the device has no public appeal and you aren't able to sell a single unit? Until your design starts sellling like 'hot cakes', your product is nothing more than "pie in the sky". If using our PCB fabrication technques and it flops, you haven't spent but a few dollars. Now isn't that smart thinking?
